Michael joined Howard Cohen & Co in 1990 and became a partner in 1994. Michael's expertise is in dispute resolution and he is the head of the Dispute Resolution Department. He has experience of dealing with cases in all courts, including the Divisional Court, Court of Appeal and The House of Lords. Michael's principal interests are in the areas of professional negligence, building and construction disputes and general commercial contractual disputes.

Richard has over 25 years’ experience in Dispute Resolution and Litigation matters, and is able to advise both individuals and businesses in relation to disputes. In May 2002 Richard founded Cramer Richards, which merged with Howard Cohen & Co in February 2009 to form Cohen Cramer. Richard has been recognised in the Chambers Directory and Legal 500.  He is involved in charity work and is a member of the Yorkshire Region for the Variety Club of Great Britain. Richard regularly appears in the regional and national media as a recognised figure in litigation and sports law and is a frequent guest on Radio Leeds providing expert advice to its listeners.

Yvonne Simpson graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a degree in law. Yvonne thereafter completed her bar vocational course and was called to the bar in 1997. Yvonne is a member of Lincolns Inn and was awarded a Hardwick Scholarship. She undertook her pupillage at 2 Crown Office Row, London. Since then she has worked in city law firms, for the government and a multi-national company.

David graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a law degree before completing the Legal Practice Course at the same institution in 2002. David qualified as a Solicitor in 2004 and has represented clients ranging from individuals to major PLC's in a diverse range of commercial and civil litigation disputes both in the UK and abroad.

Alastair is a Solicitor in the litigation team and has worked in litigation for over 10 years, locally, nationally and internationally. Alastair has been involved in a number of high profile cases including matters considered by the Court of Appeal and specialises in commercial litigation with an emphasis on media, entertainment and sporting matters.

Katie Simmonds graduated from Leeds University and completed the legal practice course at BPP Law School in Leeds. Katie has a background in commercial property and insolvency litigation and has joined the Litigation and Sports Law Department. Katie is Designate Chairman of the RNLI Yorkshire Business Branch and is actively involved in raising the charity’s profile in the Yorkshire region.

Laura Toal graduated from Queen University Belfast, with a degree in law and is currently a Litigation Executive. Her experience in litigation has come from working both in Belfast and Leeds. Laura's principal expertise is in fast track claims and debt recovery.

Kaye Longhorn joined the Dispute department in 2008 and is principal personal assistant to Michael McDonnell and Yvonne Simpson. Kaye graduated from Leeds University with a degree in Law and is currently continuing her studies with the intention of becoming a qualified solicitor. In addition to being a personal assistant, Kaye is also involved on a daily basis in liaising with clients, barristers, other solicitors and the courts. Kaye is a valuable member of the team and a useful point of contact for all the department's clients.

Hollie is currently studying the LLM in Professional Legal Practice at BPP Leeds Law School on a part time basis.
