The Childcare and Injunctions Department is a busy and dedicated department where we pride ourselves on our rapid response in emergency situations. We represent parents and children in proceedings under The Children Act 1989, such applications can relate to contact, residence, prohibited steps, orders, specific issue orders (for example, change of a child's name) and removal from the jusrisdiction. We also represent parties to care proceedings and are members of the Law Society Children Panel. We combine experience and commitment - our aim is to achieve the best possible results for our client.
If you require legal advice concerning arrangements for children, we will offer you an appointment. Please bring evidence of your income and outgoings to the first appointment, as we will assess eligibility for public funding, provided by the Legal Services Commission, at the outset.
If you are eligible for public funding, we will complete the relevant forms and, if you do not qualify, we will discuss our terms of business.
We will listen to your concerns and then outline clearly for you your options. Every situation is different and it may be that we will invite you to consider a referral to Mediation, as an alternative to court proceedings which can be stressful. However, if a court order is required in any situation, we can obtain public funding (where merits and means tests are met) and an application to court can be made in the same day or in due course if the situation is not an emergency requiring an immediate application.
